On December 11-13, 2009 the Institute for Rural Initiatives participated at the international conference Create Chances, Overcome Discrimination organized in Brussels by Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.
An IRI representative presented the project “Facilitating and assisting quality educational processes in a number of schools (3) attended by Roma children in the Republic of Moldova”. The two year project is implemented in Moldova with financial support from Roma Education Fund, Budapest, Hungary.
The conference offered a good framework for sharing best practices and experience between participants on a range of projects on combating discrimination related to Roma education.
Organizations from different European countries such as England, Hungary, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Moldova, etc. participated at this conference. Conference participants also included representatives from international organizations such as Council of Europe, Amnesty International, and Roma Education Fund.
