The Institute for Rural Initiatives helps teachers from Moldova to explore new horizons

September 26 – October 3, 2015 the Institute for Rural Initiatives conducted a series of trainings aimed to develop the capacities of 42 teachers involved in the facilitating of the quality education within the “Education Plus II: project, aimed at inclusion of Roma children in three schools from Moldova” (“Gribova” Gymnasium, Gribova village, “Ion Creanga” Lyceum, Zirnesti village, and “Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum, Hincesti town).

The leading expert of the trainings was Ms. Daniela State, specialist from the Educational Center PRO DIDACTICA Chisinau.

Topics that have been covered during the trainings were selected by school’s administrations and teachers involved in the educational activities. Teachers got familiarized with the latest practices in the field of student’s evaluation; they have modernized their methods of school evaluation based on the competency-centered paradigm as well as refreshed their knowledge in the field on verbal evaluation.

It was a busy day, and we had discovered lots of new nuances and learned lots of things we considered we knew,” stated Nadejda Dobinda, School Principal, “Ion Creanga” Lyceum, Zirnesti village, Cahul.

We would like to bring to your attention that the Institute for Rural Initiatives has been implementing the pilot project of educational vouchers since 2009, and teachers from the 3 communities involved in the project have benefited from several qualified capacity building courses. The core impact of this pilot project up to know is increased academic performance of the children beneficiaries by about 10,6%.

“Education Plus II: inclusion of Roma kids in three schools of Moldova” implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives represents a pilot initiative supported by the Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation (LED) in Moldova.
