Equipped teachers, more educated children

On November 19-20, 2016 the Institute for Rural Initiatives in partnership with Educational Program “Step by Step” organized the first capacity development trainings for 32 teachers from 2 schools from Moldova (Gribova, Drochia, and Zirnesti, Cahul).

During 2 days of training teachers were trained on topics, such as:

  • Intercultural education.
  • Particularities of the individualized educational process.
  • Communication in school.
  • Factors that contributes to increase motivation for learning.
  • Best practices for efficient and sustainable partnership.

For many teachers this capacity building training was one of the most innovative so far, it was conducted in a harmonious atmosphere that made the studying process qualitative and inspiring.

As a follow up, the experts from “Step by Step” and organizers received multiple requests from teachers to organize more trainings addressing other educational subjects. Teachers mentioned that there are multitude aspects of a relevant and dynamic educational process that require to be covered and addressed.

“Representatives from both communities are very open and interested to develop their professional and personal capacities. The questions they have been asking are based on their experience, and we see their desire to grow professionally and improve the reality locally. The teachers are also very flexible and do not resist the change, being critical and objective with themselves,” mentioned Mrs. Svetlana Galben, Step by Step trainer.

“The seeds that are being planted by the Institute for Rural Initiatives fall in a fertile soil, teachers have an appropriate attitude and inspiration in everything they do,” mentioned Angela Cazac, another trainer involved in the project.

“All the trainings were good, but this was the most successful one. We have gained great experience, have been taught new interactive methods, enriched our knowledge, and everything had a top quality level,” said Mrs. Aliona Boisteanu, teacher of French language from Zirnesti, Cahul.

In parallel with this activity the invited experts Mrs. Viorica Mart, Senior Consultant at Pre-university Education Department, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova, and Mrs. Virginia Rusnac, Director of the Psycho-Pedagogical Republican Center of Assistance held a separate session with managers and deputy directors of the 2 educational institutions about the particularities of an inclusive educational project in Moldova (legislation, policies, opportunities, realities, future aspects), as well as about funding opportunities currently present in the country (Moldovan Government, other interested organizations).

The activity is a part of the Education Plus III project implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives and its local partners, with the support of Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation (LED Moldova).
