In May iRi celebrates academic excellence

This year, for the seventh consecutive year at the solemn ceremony of the last bell on May 31, 2017, iRi awarded students coming from rural areas, who in the 2016-2017 school year have had an excellent academic performance and have been actively involved in extracurricular and volunteering activities.

The BEST three students from Zirnesti and Alexanderfeld villages, Cahul, and Gribova village, Drochia received diplomas of excellence and money prizes.

“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the Institute for Rural Initiatives for empowering students from rural areas and that our successes are so important to you,” mentioned Olesea Stinga, winner of the “Best Student of the Year” award in Zirnesti village, Cahul.

Awards program represents an annual competition designed to stimulate learning motivation and healthy academic competition in disadvantaged rural communities of the country in order to raise academic performance and extracurricular activism among students. At the roots of this program there is a vast amount of experience accumulated through various projects implemented by iRi during 13 years of organization’s activity with the support of local and international partners.

The Institute for Rural Initiatives launched the “Best Student of the Year” program in 2011 the first time and since then 63 students from 4 rural localities in the Republic of Moldova have been awarded.
