IntegrACT Academy – a new successful experiment!

iRi successfully completed the IntegrACT Academy.

We are glad that over 100 young people from 9 communities from all over Moldova were trained during the Academy. The participatory approach used within the Academy gave a chance to young people to learn by doing, bringing to life many of the ideas they came up with while attending the activities.

Also within the Academy, young people met representatives of local and regional public authorities: mayors, heads of rayons, local and rayonal councilors, youth specialists. At these meetings adolescents had addressed youth related issues at local level and tried to find solutions to overcome the crisis in the youth field. As a result of these meetings, most LPAs agreed to initiate a participatory process of developing local action plans in the youth field.

The Academy offered 54 interactive study sessions, which generated over 15 activities, initiated by young people as a result of participating in the project. In many of the communities young people continued to implement their initiatives even after the academy was finished.

“We have so many things to do in our community, and to get better at doing them we need to be trained and coached as much as possible. Participating at the Academy we aimed to motivate as many young people as possible to get involved and not to remain indifferent,” said Elvira Drangoi, young activist from Zirnesti village, Cahul rayon.

iRi encourages young people’s participation in decision-making process and believes in the “syndrome of change” – changes that we can bring together only through action.

The event is organized within the “IntegrACT – diverse youth for a cohesive society” project implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives in Moldova and its local partners with the support of Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova.
