The Regulation of the Local Coalition Activity from Baurci village, Ceadir-Lunga district was voted for

In the village of Baurci, Ceadir-Lunga district, the second Local Coalition of Gagauzia ATU was consolidated, and it aims to raise the level of participation in the local budget process. Ten members from different fields of activity participated in the online conference.

The Secretary of the Local Coalition, Mrs. Alexandra Cernioglo, welcomed the participants, saying: “The Local Coalition is made up of active local citizens and we want a fruitful and mutual cooperation.”

“The project promises us an interesting and useful process for our community,” Marina Ialanji said, an active citizen from Baurci village.

During the first session, the participants were introduced to the idea of the “My Budget” project, including the videographics and infographics developed within the project.

“The Participatory Budgeting video showing the discussion between two mayors was made in such a way, as if the project team was in our village and filmed the news,” Piotr Cristev said, a resident of the village of Baurci.

The session caused a number of questions from the participants, related to both the project implementation process and the local budget analysis process, and they were very interested to know how the local budget is executed.

“How imperfect was the budget for 2019 and how many times was it amended during the year?!” Ivan Cernioglo asked, an independent local councillor.

The second session saw the discussion of the Regulation of the Local Coalition Activity, including the official approval of the decision to form up the Local Coalition.

Mr. Iulian Rusu, the Deputy Executive Director, Institute for European Policies and Reforms, congratulated members with the endorsement of the Local Coalition.

Three other local coalitions in Gagauzia region will be founded on 27-29 April 2020.

The event was organised by the partner organisation, the Institute for Rural Initiatives.
