The Institute for Rural Initiatives announces that on April 20, 2013 it launched the activities withing the campaign “We act because we care”, which aims to fight negative attitude and stereotypes towards citizens of Roma origin by raising the level of their participation and community involvement.
The campaign will be held in six localities of the Republic of Moldova through mobilization of both Roma and non-Roma population in order to do something beneficial for the community and to increase the level of trust granted to the villagers of Roma origin.
So far, the campaign activities have taken place in two localities of the republic: village of Carpineni, Hincesti rayon, and village of Parcani, Calarasi rayon. The villagers have cleaned the surrounding grounds, planted flowers at the local park and repaired the village’s central fountain. Now the campaign is continued in the town of Comrat. Here the initiative group will be cleaning and painting the playgrounds. As to the rest of the localities, preparations for the activities are now under way.
The Institute for Rural Initiatives welcomes the initiative groups and the partners involved into the campaign and invites interested parties to participate. We wish you much success!
