The Institute for Rural Initiatives announces: the implementation of the innovative initiative “Education plus II” continues

At the beginning of a new school year the Institute for Rural Initiatives and local partners will continue to facilitate quality education process in 3 regions from Moldova. The initiative “Education Plus” has been launched in 2012 and it aims at increasing the level of the social inclusion, diminishing the rate of absenteeism in schools project is being implemented in. The intervention also brings pupils coming from different social backgrounds closer, helps them open up and become more friendly one to another, as well as improve level of t rust and cooperation between pupils, patents and teachers.

The project covers the following localities: Zirnesti, Cahul district; Gribova, Drochia district; Hincesti town. As well as during previous years the core element of the assistance is education vouchers equivalent to:

  • school supplies;
  • homework facilitation classes;
  • food vouchers.

At this stage, implementation the project is based on not only on the needs of children, but also on opinions/recommendations from parents and teachers who participated in this initiative over the years.

Due to the innovative vouchers system, Grade Point Average of the beneficiaries has been increased on average by 7%, level of the school absenteeism has diminished with 27% and participation in extra-curricular activities registered a boost by about 30%.

The Institute for Rural Initiatives invites interested central and local authorities to participate in the implementation of this innovative initiative, as well as the idea of the piloting by the state of educational voucher system, closer examination.

The project is implemented with the support of Liechtenstein Development Service Foundation (LED Moldova) in partnership with local partners, coordinated by Ministry of Education of Republic of Moldova.
