On October 12, 2010 the Institute for Rural Initiatives opens School for Young Activist in Zirnesti village from the Cahul district.
About 12 youth from Zirnesti participated in the opening session, and the group will take part in the school’s full program.
The school is a component of the project “Building democracy at home: supporting interethnic dialogue and intercultural cooperation”, which is funded by the United States Embassy in Moldova. Activities within the school will take place in collaboration with Egreta NGO from Zirnesti and the administration of the “Ion Creanga” theoretical school from Zirnesti.
The school’s sessions will be held once a week through December and will include academic and practical elements. The purpose of the course is to draw the attention of local youth to the need for their participation in community life and as well to equip them with the skills to identify and address problems in their community while promoting interethnic communication and collaboration.
