On January 28th, 2015 the Institute for Rural Initiatives in partnership with Bureau of Interethnic Relations Moldova has organized thematic working session activity within the project “Minority Act: growing capacity of interethnic dialogue and cooperation”.

The event took place in Chisinau and hosted members of 5 initiative groups – representatives of ethnic minorities (Czech, Bulgarian, German, Gagauzian and Roma), as well as representatives of Local Public Authorities, all of them coming from five communities (Ferapontievca village, Comrat rayon; Carpineni and Huluboaia village, Hincesti rayon; Ursoaia and Alexanderfeld village, Cahul rayon).

During the working session participants had the opportunity to ask questions, establish a better connection with decision-makers, share the issues they are struggling with and brainstorm for potential solutions. Project implementation team encouraged and motivated participants to create a stronger and democratic society, within the frame of their culture and country.

Mrs. Valentina Miron, president of the “Promotorii Noului” NGO, has mentioned during the event: “Such meetings are very useful not only to discuss public policies and other similar issues, but also it is a great motivation for future actions we intend to implement in our communities”.

Members of the initiative groups presented the accomplishments they had achieved within the “We act because we care” campaign organized in close partnership with LPA. They shared success stories, lessons learned and impediments that have been encountered while implementing local initiatives.

“We are a Christian nation, and have the calling to change our society for the better. Only together we will accomplish wonderful things. Let’s accept each other the way we are, and prove that the country where we live has a bright future to come”, mentioned Mrs. Ludmila Burlaca, Head of Division, Bureau of Interethnic Relations Moldova.

Thematic working session was implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives and its local partners with the support of U.S. Embassy in Moldova.
