On February 6-8, 2015 the Institute for Rural Initiatives has provided children from “Gribova” Gymnasium, Gribova village, Drochia; “Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum, Hincesti town, and “Ion Creanga” Lyceum, Zirnesti village, Cahul with school supplies and other additional materials necessary for a quality learning process.
B.F. Skinner, a noted Educational Psychologist, once said, “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten.” IRI years of experience confirms this statement and enforces it.
Thus, in order to emphasize the role and the importance of the parents in a child’s education a workshop for the parents, teachers and school’s administration have been held before distributing the educational vouchers to the beneficiaries.
The results that have been achieved are impressive. An admirable example is a woman of Roma ethnicity from Hincesti town, who during 4 months has attended home work facilitation sessions side by side with her daughter and learned to write and read achieving academic excellence.
Mrs. Irina Cibotaru, an elementary school teacher at „Mihai Eminescu” Lyceum from Hincesti mentioned: “This is my first time to be a homework facilitator, but I have never seen pupils to obtain such significant results in such a short period. Children also enjoy a lot the school supplies they are offered, it is a necessary and very useful donation”.
