Between May-October 2009 the first phase of the project “Facilitating and assisting quality educational processes in a number of schools (3) attended by Roma children in the Republic of Moldova” was implemented. The 2 year project is implemented with the financial support of Roma Education Fund, Budapest, Hungary.
The project responds to the fact that to date there have been no initiatives in the Republic of Moldova in regards to direct facilitation and/or assistance to promote quality formal education processes to Roma children. The project intends to facilitate quality educational processes in 3 schools attended by Roma students/pupils through a system of educational vouchers and individual assistance (tutoring) so that the level of the beneficiaries academic preparation is improved and optimized.
To date, the first phase of the project has been completed, which entailed collection and processing of important figures and baseline data about the specific problems and needs currently faced by the target beneficiaries. Also during the first phase of the project a concrete methodology of individual assistance and a clear monitoring scheme have been elaborated so that the future intervention in the 3 schools (second phase of the project) becomes measurable and more efficient.
