Beginning with September, 2012, the Institute for Rural Initiatives with the support of the Embassy of the United States of America in the Republic of Moldova is implementing a new one-year initiative. The goal of the project is to facilitate Roma equal participation in Moldovan Society by growing awareness, mobilizing and building capacities of Roma organizations and individuals as well as of a number of other relevant stakeholdres for an efficient inclusion of Roma communities.
The project inteds to build capacity among members of six Roma communities in Moldova in order to enable them to better participate in local public processes while becoming more knowledgeable in defending their rights and more skillful in better accessing existent legal social services/opportunities. Simultaneously the project will develop a number of concrete frameworks promoting Roma participation while reuniting on a common platform Roma and non-Roma entities including public authorities.
Within this initiative the Institute for Rural Initiatives plans to raise the level of empowerment of Roma communities so that leaders and activists are able to both make their voice heard and participate more actively in public life of their communities.
