Expanding young Moldovans’ horizons in the entrepreneurship field

Expanding young Moldovans’ horizons in the entrepreneurship field

Starting June 2015, the Institute for Rural Initiatives with the support of Angello Development Foundation launched a new project initiative „Young Entrepreneur”.

The goal of this project is to empower Moldovan young people to become better prepared for meeting life realities including employment challenges by cultivating in them a spirit of economic initiative, competition and sense of excellence.

Project is being implemented in four communities from Moldova (Alexanderfeld and Zirnesti, Cahul; Mingir Hincesti; and Gribova, Drochia), sites where iRi is running ongoing programs using the existent Democracy School framework.

The training course will be an interactive afterschool two module program (theory and practice). Throughout the academic year courses will be lead by facilitators and experts in the entrepreneurial field. Towards the end of the academic year, the 60 kids, beneficiaries of the project (age 12-16) will be given as a loan 200 lei (10 euros) so that they use it to make some profit and then return the 200 lei back.

During the project beneficiaries will have “master class” sessions held by successful entrepreneurs and will actively participate at the school fairs in order to cultivate their spirit of entrepreneurship, honest competition and the motivation to explore new horizons.

We believe that this program will contribute to a better socio-economic integration into society of pupils preparing them for the next steps in their life. The project is inspired by a similar model successfully implemented in the UK.

The program will be implemented June, 2015 through May, 2016.
