A new decisional body Advisory Committee “Education Plus” has been created

The Institute for Rural Initiatives announces about a succesfully implemented action in the village of Zirnesti, Cahul rayon. It is about an initiative on creating a new decisional body in one school attended by socially disadvantadged pupils – Advisory Comittee ”Education Plus”. The action was meant to favour the access of Roma parents in the decision process of the school while opening/developing a dialog between them and school administration so that a better quality education is ensured. The Advisory Committee is formed of 5 Roma parens and 4 local teachers. Within this new structure Roma parents have a real opportunity to make their voice and participate in the decision process of the school. Thanks to this group setting they discuss about the existent problems in the community and propose solutions to them.

On July 6, 2011 the Advisory Committee was officially formed. One month later, on August 7, 2011 the group suceeded in implemeting all proposed actions. In this way the Advisory Commitee finalized the selection process of the project beneficiaries, agreed on voucher distribution and discussed a number of important problems regarding the new academic year of 2011-2012.

These actions have been realized within the “Assisting quality educational processes in one school attended by Roma children in the Republic of Moldova” project. The project is implemented with the financial support of Roma Education Fund, Budapest, Hungary.
