Regional Participation Platform for Good Governance: a bridge of communication between local authorities and citizens of Riscani district

The Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) launched the second Regional Participation Platform (RPP) for good governance with the participation of 10 NGOs and stakeholders from 8 communities in Riscani district. The first Platform for good governance was successfully created in 2020 in Drochia district, involving 14 local NGOs.

The platform implies the development of a continuous dialogue between local public authorities, civil society and citizens of Riscani district and their involvement in the process of good governance at the local and regional level.

“Civil society and local authorities have to work together. Governance is about LPAs, NGOs and citizens working together to solve problems in their communities.” – Vasile Secrieru, president of Riscani district.

The RPP was created by the approval and signing of a declaration of foundation by the 10 NGOs in Riscani district, in the presence of the deputy mayor of town of Riscani, Mr. Veaceslav Spataru, as well as experts and guests.

“We very much hope that the Regional Participation Platform will bring the citizens of Riscani district closer to the first and second level authorities, promote transparency within the LPAs, create new development opportunities and establish a common action plan.” – Veaceslav Spataru, deputy mayor, Riscani district.

The event was also attended by the chairwoman of the regional participation platform for good governance in Drochia district, Mrs. Mariana Bruma, who came with a presentation of the platform’s results and recommendations for colleagues in Riscani district.

“From our experience of 1 year of platform functioning I come with a recommendation to my colleagues in Riscani district to organize the first meeting of orientation to get to know the members of the platform, where each one can introduce himself, tell more about the skills and needs in order to assign responsibilities more efficiently.” – Mariana Bruma, president of the regional participation platform for good governance, Drochia district.

The expert invited to this event, Mr. Sergiu Ostaf, presented the Regulations, the Declaration of Foundation and how this platform works. The activity was followed by the election, by vote, of the President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Regional Platform for Good Governance in Riscani district.

“I am honored to be elected as the President of the Regional Participation Platform of Riscani district. I’d love to get involved in community activities that contribute to changing people’s lives and I will continue to do so… and only together we can be a force.” – Liudmila Tozlovanu, president of the Regional Participation Platform for Good Governance in Riscani district.

The event ended up with a nice initiative from the Riscani LPA, which offered a space to the members of the newly created Platform for meetings, round tables, discussions and activities organized by the RPP.

The workshop was carried out in the framework of the project “Citizens Serving Citizens”, which is implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) and local partners within the grant programme “Development of civil society at the local level in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the European Union and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
