Awards for academic excellence: an inspiring vision on education

On the 31st of May at the school graduation ceremony Last Bell 2015-2016 for the sixth consecutive year the Institute for Rural Initiatives together with local partners offered awards to winners of the “Best student of the year” and “The most active student of the year” contest.

Four students coming from four rural communities from Moldova (“Mingir” Lyceum, Mingir village, Hincesti rayon; “Gribova” Gymnasium, Gribova village, Drochia rayon; “Serghei Esenin” Gymnasium, Alexanderfeld village, Cahul rayon; “Ion Creanga” Lyceum, Zirnesti village, Cahul rayon) received excellence diplomas and prizes valued at 1,000 MDL. All of the students have demonstrated outstanding academic successes and have been very active in the extracurricular field, these being the terms required for getting the award within the program.

This year special guest at the ceremony was Joseph Bednarek, representative of the Global Fund for Children, who personally handed the award to the best student of the year in Zirnesti village, Cahul.

“I am very happy and honored to join you on the day of your graduation ceremony. I would like to congratulate all of you with finishing another school year, and I wish to the winner of the program lots of great achievements in the future,” has mentioned Mr. Bednarek.

Through the award program the Institute for Rural Initiatives aims to inspire other educational institutions as well in order to promote the concept of quality education through healthy academic competition and active participation in extra-curricular activities.

The Institute for Rural Initiatives intends to continue the scholarship program “Best student of the year” in the future as well.

The iRi team congratulates the award winners on the 2015-2016 academic year and encourages other students to strive to be active and achieve great results in the upcoming 2016-2017 academic year.
