First programs for better participation governance were launched in 5 rural communities from the Republic of Moldova

Between February and March 2021, for the first time for the communities of Gaidar, Baurci, Tomai, Ceadir Lunga, Vulcanesti, ATU Gagauzia, the budgetary participation program was launched. The value starts with 50,000 MDL, the smallest amount and 200,000 MDL, the highest amount.

The program was launched by the Local Public Authorities (LPA), in close collaboration with the Local Coalitions and expects to involve the community members in identifying the needs of the community with a subsequent proposal of solutions in form of projects. The solutions in a well-organized form of project proposals will be validated in April 2021 by the LPA, and then they will be submitted to a voting process by the community citizens. The works related to the implementation of the vote winning proposals will be performed by the LPA during 2021.

The planning and promotion of the Budgetary Participation program was carried out during 2020 with the logistical support of the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi).
