On October 18, 2024, the 3rd training of the AVANTE series organized by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) for 10 young local leaders and facilitators, took place in Chisinau. This session was dedicated to the development of action plans and the strengthening of youth groups who shared experiences and effective solutions to mobilize young people in their communities.
Within the training, the participants discussed ways in which young people were motivated to get actively involved in community life, and the key topic was maintaining this motivation in the long term – a key element for the success of any initiative
In order to better organize activities with and for young people, participants worked in teams on a work plan, answering fundamental questions: What are the aims and objectives? Who will be involved? When and how will the actions be implemented? This phase allowed for the devel-opment of concrete and sustainable planning strategies, as well as an exchange of experiences between participants.
At the end, the plans were presented and discussed in detail, with constructive recommenda-tions from the trainer for their optimization. Open discussions in the Open Space format also encouraged the exchange of ideas on challenges and solutions in implementing actions at local level.
The leaders emphasized that, although the initial motivation is there, maintaining it in the long term and turning ideas into concrete actions requires a well-structured and clearly defined plan.
“It was a very interesting and useful training for mentors and leaders of initiative groups. We learned how to plan events correctly, considering all aspects: responsibilities, time, goals, objectives, expecta-tions and indicators. This will help us to work on our plan correctly.” – Dmitrii Ianul, the facilitator of the initiative group from Cismichioi, Vulcanesti.

“It is essential for young people to have a word to say in the community, because we are the present and the future and we have different perspectives for the society we are part of. The project “Youth leaders at the table” has made me feel fulfilled and responsible, knowing that I can make a major contribution to the changes needed in our community.” – Georgeta Popa, young leader from Ciuciuleni, Hincesti district.
