Citizens ACT: growing local partnerships for open and transparent budgets

The project aims at both educating and involving citizens from rural areas in elaborating and monitoring local budgets resulting in an improved public expenditure efficiency.

Within the project activities, the 5 partner LPAs, together with civil society representatives and initiative groups will receive the necessary methodological and organizational support for LPAs to successfully implement the requirements for citizen participation in the budget process, including expert analysis.

All project activities are based on the principle of voluntary collaboration between local authorities, civil society organizations and local initiative groups and involves collaboration with 5 local authorities of level I in order to establish a collaborative framework with local civil society representatives and local initiative groups.

The project “Citizens ACT: growing local partnerships for open and transparent budgets” is implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) with financial support from the Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation, a project of the German Marshall Fund, USA.
