Following a discussion and preparation process, together with 12 NGOs from Drochia district, the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) launched the regional platform for good governance “Governing Together”.
The “Governing Together” platform was created at the initiative of civil society representatives which have their activity in Drochia district, as an apolitical advisory body, without the status of a legal entity, with the facilitation of the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi).
The main purpose of the Platform is to develop and promote the partnership between public authorities and civil society in order to promote European values on good governance in Drochia district.
The declaration of creation of the Platform was signed by 12 NGOs from Drochia district in the presence of the invited experts and the vice-president of Drochia district Mr. Iurie Ostapciuc.
“The development of Drochia district requires a common effort of the Local Public Authorities and the regional civil society. We welcome the initiative of creating the Platform for good governance and will be open to the common work agenda.” – Iurie Ostapciuc, vice-president of Drochia district.
“I am convinced that we are witnessing a moment of great beginnings for Drochia district. A permanent, open, and institutionalized dialogue is essential in the process of good governance. The LPAs will have the opportunity to learn about good governance on the go. At this stage everything depends on the members of the Platform. If you demonstrate persistence and ability to communicate with the authorities regardless of the circumstances, you will succeed.” – Ruslan Stanga, executive director, iRi.
The concept and the way of functioning were inspired by the experience of the National Participation Council (CNP) which acted as an advisory body to the State Chancellery of the Republic of Moldova.
“The concept and the way it works are inspired by the experience of the National Participation Council (CNP) and I am glad that you took over this experience by introducing new elements to make the platform functional locally. I wish you good luck!” – Sergiu Ostaf, former president of CNP and executive director of CREDO.
Mr. Octavii Ivanov – expert within the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova (CALM) – had a presentation on ”Effective models of interaction between LPAs—citizens: what do citizens and LPAs gain from that?” encouraging the Platform members and the LPA representatives of level I and II from Drochia district to get actively involved by contributing to the act of good governance in their district and being an example for other districts from the Republic of Moldova.
The event also included the voting process for the election of the President and the Vice-President of the Regional Platform for Good Governance.
“Thank you for believing in me. I am honored to represent you in this new but distinguished forum. I will do everything to promote the principles of good governance in our district. But I need your support.” – Mariana Bruma, president of the “Governing Together” Platform.
The Platform members ended the event with a call to action and mutual support of the civil society in Drochia district.
The activity is part of the project “Governing Together”, implemented by the Institute for Rural Initiatives (iRi) and local partners within the Grant Program “Grassroots Civil Society Development Facility in the Republic of Moldova”, funded by the European Union and Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
